History
- Founded in 1953 by C.A. Withell
- In 1975 a paint and body shop division was established
- In 1979 a board of directors was formed. A decision was made to relocate the company to its present location in an effort to better service its growing client base.
- In 1980 PPG Paint was incorporated into the Body Shop division as the primary refinishing line.
- In 2000 Advanced Coatings was established to solidify our company as a single source supplier in the Calgary market place by offering a full line of fleet products and services.
- In 2003 Advanced Coatings partnered with 3M Canada as a preferred distributor for both automatic and industrial allied supplies.
Synopsis
Advanced Coatings is a locally owned and operated business. It is a company that has successfully diversified internally and externally over the years to meet the ever-changing needs of the Calgary Auto Body, Fleet & Industrial market place.
Our support and service of the local business community gives us a significant advantage over our competitors, whereas our resources and expertise are concentrated and made available at all times to meet our client needs.

Advanced Coatings Technologies is pro-active in the development of its employees, demanding the highest level of professionalism at all times. This includes the ongoing yearly training requirements to maintain our credentials and to ensure our employees are versed in all the latest technologies and methodologies. As a result Advanced Coatings retains its own journeymen on staff to better service our customers in training and technical/business development.
We are also bound by yearly (CSI’s) and must maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. We must also adhere to strict financial obligations.
Another criteria is single source PPG products, this enables us to offer a wide breadth of products to meet various needs.
